1. Choose the workholding method

A roller rotary supports a cylindrical blank on wheels and is the familiar path for cups, tumblers, mugs, and bottles. A chuck rotary grips the work and can be better for rings, small cylinders, specialty shapes, or jobs where positive workholding is the priority. A pass-through roller reduces tower obstruction for longer vessels. A machine-specific adapter makes sense only when it is designed around the installed platform.

2. Measure the full physical envelope

Measure the rotary, mounts, blank, spacers, and required focus distance together. Check the door opening as well as the usable interior space. A blank can fit the bed and still fail because the combined stack is too tall, the handle collides, or the head cannot travel safely.

3. Confirm the electrical and control path

Record the laser manufacturer and model, controller, connector type, motor requirement, and software. Do not assume that two visually similar plugs are wired the same. If the information is unclear, send clear connector and motor-label photos to the manufacturer before connecting the rotary.
