A roller rotary supports a round blank on driven and idler rollers and turns it by surface contact. It is fast to load for repeatable drinkware, but diameter changes, taper, handles, surface finish, weight, and slipping must be controlled.
What should I measure before choosing a roller rotary?
Measure the blank's diameter, length, weight, taper, handle or neck, contact or grip area, and target engraving band. Also measure the laser's usable space at focus with the complete rotary setup installed.
Does a rotary that holds my blank automatically work with my laser?
No. Mechanical workholding and machine compatibility are separate. The controller, connector, pinout, motor, software method, mounting, clearance, and permitted accessory path must also be confirmed.
How do I validate rotary calibration?
Use the exact product and machine instructions, preserve the working flat profile, enter values for the installed mechanism, and run a measured low-risk rotation test before customer production.
